Lookout Mountain Colorado
Built in 1917 by Fisher & Fisher as a summer home and seasonal hunting lodge for Charles Boettcher, a German immigrant who became one of Colorado's most prolific and prominent entrepreneurs, the former "Lorraine Lodge" is nestled into 110+ forested acres atop Lookout Mountain in Golden. The rustic yet elegant estate offers a magnificent setting at 7500 feet, with views of the Continental Divide above and the Denver panorama below. In 1975, after Charles granddaughter, Charline Breeden, bequeathed the property to Jefferson County for public use and enjoyment, it began its new life as a special events venue. Carefully restored and renovated in 1986 and 2005-07, this Arts & Crafts landmark is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with more than 40,000 annual visitors.
